Amaravathi is the upcoming capital city of the state of Andhra Pradesh, India besides the Krishna River. The biggest fear of the historians and localities alike was losing the historic character and relevance of the Amaravathi village due to development and urbanization. Amaravathi is considered to be the birthplace of Buddhism and has a rich history for being the ancient capital city since 2000 years. We were brought into the picture by the history and tourism division of the state. Our goal was to document and project the historic significance and propose design interventions which could highlight the village , earn an income and all this without losing the character of the place.
